Frequently Asked Questions

Is Love the Run the right group for me?
Good question! Every running group has its own ‘flavour’ that appeals to different people. Our group attracts people who are keen on their running, who prefer a smaller group (10-15 people per session), with individual coaching attention, and great spirit and friendship between the runners. It’s hard to describe our group in words – why not come along and try it out.

Do I have to be a good runner to join the group?
No. What you do need is an enjoyment for running, for being fit, enjoying a great group of like-minded people, having a goal you want to achieve, and a desire to improve your running. As a general guide, if you can run non-stop for 20-25 mins, 2-4 times per week you will gain some value from our sessions. After that, the sky is the limit.

Are faster and slower runners catered for?
Yes. Our runners range from sub-35 min to 60+ min for 10km. Sessions are planned to cater for runners of different abilities, fitness and goals – often we’ll have runners doing multiple different sessions at the same time. Our coach is a 2:32 hr marathon runner so he knows what it takes – and what’s involved – in running fast and well.

How much does it cost?
Casual sessions start from $5 each, or $20 per week, which includes all sessions and training program.

Where do I store my gear during training?
On Tuesday & Friday the coach will look after bags and bikes at the training location, but it is worth bringing a bike lock each day.

Is there a uniform?
We don’t have a uniform as such, but do have t-shirts, singlets, caps and hoodies printed up which our runners can choose to buy and wear – they look great and give our group some identity during training and racing.

When and where do you compete?
Our runners compete in all range of races near and far. From 5km Parkruns to marathons, we select races which are interesting and challenging, where possible forming teams and travelling together.

Races we regularly go to each year include – Two Bays trail run, Sunset series, Run for the Kids, Run Melbourne, Great Ocean Road marathon, Puffing Billy race, Trail Running series, Gold Coast marathon, City to Surf, Melbourne marathon, Surf Coast Century and more!!

Is there a social side to the group?
Most certainly!! Aside from the great atmosphere and camaraderie at training we have functions like DVD & pizza nights, ten pin bowling, awards night and more. Trips away to races, whether local or interstate, have been great times and supportive spirit.
