September Stotan – Ben Wright

The Stotan is our monthly acknowledgement of an athlete in our group who has a notable accomplishment during the month. It’s not necessarily the best or fastest person, but the person who has a personal triumph. Stotan is a word coined by the famous Percy Cerutty for his running gang back in the 1950’s. Following is a brief definition. A full definition of The Stotan Code is here http://lovetherun.com.au/2010/09/26/the-stotan-code/:

Stotan: (n.) 1. A cross between a Stoic and Spartan(Titan).
2. A person of great physical strength.
3. A name given to a person who triumphs over a weakening to emerge stronger than before.
"We are true stotans. We run all day, never complain, and give it all we got in every race."

A nominations for the Stotan award this month:
Georgie Camakaris – for her transformation into a runner and a big ½ marathon PB.
Ben Wright – for his outstanding results at the World Championships in Budapest – 5th in aquathon, 3rd in the sprint distance triathlon.
James Worth – returning from a frustrating injury, showing a lot of patience and diligence to return to training and more racing ahead.
Mark Felder – surviving the NZ earthquake in a location far closer to the epicentre than Christchurch!!

And the winner is Ben Wright. Congratulations!!
